I can’t thank @kelseylensman enough for including us in Mission48. Tonight’s deadlift max out was amazing.

I got to see @__kels.kels__ hit and @abyerslife hit huge PRs, see @sandy_dee07 and @valaidawise crush some HEAVY lifts, and @colttaylor_ & @reid_allen even jumped in on the fun. (Colt casually pulled a 600 lb PR lol). I think we had 13 lifters total (might be missing a few sorry my brain is mush!)

It was so fun seeing that “hey, I’m stronger than I thought” moment multiple times tonight - I live for that!

So thankful for this amazing community 🥹🫶🏻

Don’t limit your squat strength with a shoddy setup.

Here’s my checklist for a solid walk out:
✅ consistent - like the video shows, my walk out is the same no matter what weight is loaded on the bar
✅ efficient - we aren’t wasting energy with a million steps or unnecessary movements. I take 3-4 steps and I’m ready.
✅ safe - I’m not on my tippy toes or good morning-ing the bar out of the rack. Get both feet squarely under the bar so all you have to do is extend your knees and hips to have enough clearance to unrack the bar.

I like the 3 step method for walking my squats out. One big step straight back, one step to the side with the opposite leg, then move the other foot laterally to its position. Adjust if needed from there if needed.

Biggest bonus tip: let the weight settle!!! After that initial standing up with the bar, take a second. Then take your first move to clear the rack.

@madisglowup was my first ever powerlifting client. She came to me in September of 2021 and told me that she was tired of personal trainers treating her like she wasn’t strong. I said “bet” and we haven’t looked back since.

She competes in 6 weeks and I can’t wait to see her show off her hard work.

I have typed out what feels like a million captions but none seem to sum up my feelings about the difference Dowda has made and will continue to make in this industry.

You’ve seen their accomplishments in the gym and on the platform, but what you might not be as familiar with is their profound joy for helping others achieve and surpass their goals when it comes to fitness and a healthier relationship with their body overall.

I have personally coached Dowda since January 1st of this year, and I am just stoked for whoever gets the honor of working with this incredible human being.
